Editor's Picks - Shanghai:

Editor’s Picks June 24-27

June 24th, 2010 by mike

And the beat goes on! Does it seem to anyone else like things haven’t really quieted down yet this summer? It’s still June, but I have high hopes (and some dates in the calendar) that this will be the summer that it just don’t stop. We might need some festivals in the summer rather than the fall to take it over the top, but for that someone might have to invent outdoor air-conditioning.

Thursday:

Alec Haavik and the Friction Seven

Still one of the few bands in town that’s really doing their own identifiable and magical thing. If you haven’t checked them out, this is your last chance before you will offiicially be an idiot. Illusion trio opens, featuring Josh Davis on bass.

Hmm…the radar is coming up empty, so why not check out one of your favorite jam sessions. May I suggest an old-people-jam-session in the park?

I want to add one more to this weekend… it’s not about music (ooops), but football is as exciting as music! and this one will include a lot of war chants for sure.
This Friday, Chile is playing against Spain an intense match to pass to the second round of the World Cup, the conquerors against the liberators! (yeah!) … I’ll be watching it at Kuluska, at 2.30 am. There’ll be music of course… drums of battle!!! … so after LOgO, Shelter, or JZ, come to Kuluska for the fight! (Kuluska: 528 Kanding rd. near Xikang rd. )
