One of China’s most famous musicians is coming to Shanghai.
Too. Much. Music.
It’s already a big music weekend, but this is hip. On Saturday, October 17th, Layabozi is putting on its first show, bringing electronic and jazz together in a blender called Anar. Lasie Cane introduces our musicians for the night in her debut post for Layabozi. UPDATE: Now with Chinese translation.
The Modern Sky Festival that happened just a few days ago had some complications. In the aftermath of the events Layabozi’s correspondent in Beijing reports about the rock, the blues, the heroes, and the lunatic.
Funk fans are in for a treat this Saturday, as the arty US hip hop label Stones Throw and Shanghai promoters Sub-Culture present artist Dam-Funk’s (sounds like dame) Shanghai installment of his Asian Funk Tsunami tour.
That’s what JZ is hoping for, and to that effect they’ve changed the name from Jazz Festival to Music Festival (though the Chinese name is, literally, “Jazz Shanghai Music Festival”). It’s definitely within the realm of possibility, as they apparently drew around 10,000 people to last year’s festival in Jingan park, and that sold out. This year’s version will be in the much larger Century Park, which is admittedly in Pudong, but some people live there right?
Calling all rockers…
Aggression, thy name is Mushroom.
