YuYinTang and Layabozi present an anthology of Shanghai Rock from our times. Four bands, sixteen rock stars, forty-six strings, sixty thousand grooves, and one hundred million riffs; all in one night to rock Shanghai and spice your flaming soul. Including Boys Climbing Ropes, The Dovetail Joints, Duck Fight Goose, Weghur, featuring all the headbangers, moshers, stoners, hippies, goths, punks, and grungers… all the rock beasts clashing in your face, and burning you out… We salute you!!!

Duck Fight Goose is at the head of the coming wave of Shanghai rock sounds, developing the psychedelic expression of Chinese rock with a strong and dramatic sound. Duck Fight Goose is one of the proud bands born in Shanghai this year. The four wild members (Duck, Goose, Panda, and Dragon) have no limits when it comes to experiments with sound. They have a hypnotic power over the audience, blending experimental rock, electronic music, and the influence of psychedelic masters. They get you tripping in rock. Be careful with them!

The Dovetail Joints are known for their sweet melodies, kick ass riffs, great lyrics, and tight ska rock beats. Overall cool, but also windy and groovy, The Dovetail Joints produce solid rock sounds; a delicatessen for ears hungry for colorful flowing layers of notes and words. Hippies are alive and kicking in Shanghai! Forget about your shoes and your belts, Becca’s voice will disarm you and make you say “peace and love, dude” faster than any rattle you could feel. This is barefooted, long-haired rock for your soul.

Weghur is controversial in many ways. Hassan, the  leader of the band, has been on Shanghai’s rock stages for a long time already. He is known for having an amazing talent for rock, and for his attitude when playing the guitar. The drummer and bass player are solid as the ground, the lyrics are sung in traditional Turkish, Chinese and English: all these elements mixed together make a very peculiar Asiatic rock ‘n roll ready to be exported to the world.

Boys Climbing Ropes push the stools aside because there is no sitting while this band plays! Boys Climbing Ropes are four-year veterans of the Shanghai indie rock scene, filling up every venue with mesmerizing melodies and bouncy beats. Their blend of folk, punk and musical meandering takes their listeners on a crazy horse ride that satisfies that deep craving we all have to be rocked. Balancing beautifully the Yin and Yang, the wild and the tamed, experiencing Boys Climbing Ropes is like getting good massage of the creative mind, a pleasurable tickling of your senses with a forceful yet soothing rub down.
