In other full moon news, have you listened to a little radio show called Chances with Wolves? That link is blogspot, so you’ll need a vpn to get at it. You can also listen to it live on East Village Radio (they’re in the rather inconvenient 5-7am Tuesday slot, in Shanghai time) or maybe you can stream it on itunes somehow. I was unable to, but my computer and itunes are old. Anyway, it’s a show of awesome music you’ve never heard before. More accurately, it’s a show of recordings you’ve never heard, though you’ll recognize some of the songs, all older and pretty soulful, though not mostly soul music. Seriously, you should do whatever you can to find it. It’s one of the most exciting music things I have found in recent memory.

In other news, YuYinTang is open again, with a redone interior. That should be awesome. Also, now that the western-Chinese new year awkward time is over, things should start get going in earnest, there and elsewhere. Awesome! Now all we need is for Mache to come back and everything will be right again.

Thursday:

The fireworks are pretty much over and it’s getting late, but if you’ve staying crouched, waiting for just the right moment to pounce on unsuspecting evening-folk, now is the time! Dada is the place! It’s a new weekly thing that just started a few hours ago, and it features The Ice Cream Truck and friends, and this week that means Mau Mau, The Uhhh and friends Siesta (Phreaktion) and Milan J (Wonky Kong). So awesome. Kenny has vacated the piano chair, so there should be someone new in there, though I can’t tell you who. That band is so sweet. The Old “Jazz” Band opens. You can check out Jessica Maurer and friends down at the Waldorf while you’re on the Bund. It’s at the south end. That bar has really killing (but expensive) cocktails and a band.
