If you’re a ghoul for rock ‘n roll, Yuyintang is the only place you need to be this Halloween weekend.
On Saturday night, the 27th of October, all the ghosts of rock past come out to play. I’m mixing my cheesy holiday metaphors here, but whatever. Halloween’s about winging it!
Here’s what’s happening:
The Fever Machine are taking on Queens of the Stone Age. I don’t even really know that much about Queens of the Stone Age, but if they play that one ditty, “No One Knows”, everything’s gonna be alright. Also, maybe Fabien can pretend for one song to be John Paul Jones and then they could play Them Crooked Vultures’ “Scumbag Blues”. That would also be fine.
Next: Death to Giants as System of a Down. This might not be as exciting as some of the other possibilities that were floating around out there, but it’s still ridiculously exciting. System of a Down has some really complicated tunes and I’m excited to see how the duo re-formats them. Also, lots of screaming and growling opportunities. Don’t sleep on the band’s two big mouths.
Androsace as Black Sabbath is going to be epic. Wait, let me get this straight. That means Lenz will be possibly Ozzy or Ronnie James Dio? Like I said, epic. There’s so many songs to choose from. “Crazy Train” has got to be on the set list, right?
Finally, the wild card of the evening, Hello Money as Weezer. I haven’t been this excited since Boys Climbing Ropes covered “The Sweater Song” a long time ago. It was so long ago, I’m not even sure it was “The Sweater Song”. Hell, I’m not even sure it actually happened. I might have just dreamed it. Anyway, Hello Money, you better not muck this up. Let’s not get cute, OK? Let’s just stick to The Blue Album, shall we? I won’t be pissed off if I hear anything from Pinkerton, either. However, if I hear so much as a snippet of “Beverly Hills”, I’m storming the stage.
Either way, it’s sure to be a good show.
