Record Store Day Is Here

Saturday will be the day to show our love to the Record Stores that have gave us great times. People around the world is getting ready for the party, and as part of the event there are some last minute news spreading right now.

Check ’em out”

Pink Floyd is reissuing their single from 1967 See Emily Play b/w The Scarecrow as a limited edition heavyweight 7” Pink vinyl replicating the original. It will include a replica of the original poster. The edition is of 2500 copies. And it will be available only on Saturday on Record Stores listed.

There is a contest to get limited editions of a double vinyl LP An Introduction To Syd Barrett, released on Record Store Day 2011. Also a 12” for the remix of the amazing song of Simple Minds’ “Theme For Big Cities”… let me say here, the original is simply magical, no remix could make such tune bigger, though Moby did a fine job with it for the sake of fun, and I guess to bring this great track to the memory of the new generation of good listeners.  To win any of these great records go to the contest page, give your contact info, and answer a pretty easy, almost silly question, then cross your fingers, stand looking to the North, do a back flip, and say quickly “vinylogous allylic rearrangement”. Then just wait for your record to arrive.

In Shanghai the celebration will start on Friday at Uptown Record Store with the show of the documentary Last Shop Standing, at 2pm, it’s free entrance. Then on Saturday the party at Uptown starts again at 2pm. And at night the celebration moves to 390 Livehouse where Johan Agebjörn (Sally Shapiro) will play at 10pm. And finally on Sunday night the weekend will end with a free show at 390 Livehouse with the bands The Dyne, and Alpine Decline.
