On January the 26th Omar Rodriguez Lopez (guitarist, producer, and songwriter for Mars Volta) released his solo album Old Money. This album of guitars, constructions, and deconstructions is powerful and awakening, and at the same time dreamy. Old Money could be read as the intellectual font of sounds feeding Mars Volta and the already disappeared At the Drive In.
This is one of those albums you either love and trip out on or don’t. If you love rock, then you must trip on it. The jamming guitars will blow you away and the jazzy sounds will amaze you. This is food for all us rock nerds. Listen to the complete album here.
